About Us

We're Family Run & Operated

Metro Microgreens takes fresh produce to a whole new level. Our growing facility, located in Rockville, Maryland, provides microgreens to local farmer's markets around the Washington, DC region, restaurants, personal chefs, CSA’s, Caterers, grocery stores, and anyone wanting the finest quality varieties of microgreens. We are a “Certified Naturally Grown” farm.

All of our seeds are non-GMO and we use the safest growing methods to provide our customers with the tastiest and healthiest microgreens. We grow hydroponically on a coco coir medium so there is no soil for you to rinse off. Our microgreens are sold living with the greens still attached to the coco coir so they remain fresh and nutritious for a longer period of time compared to pre-cut microgreens.

Mark Ross

Founder & Chief Farmer

Mark has been organically gardening for over 25 years, growing wonderful, home-grown fruits and vegetables.

With Mark’s knowledge and experience in growing organic food, he helped found Metro Microgreens with his wife Debbie.

In 2008, Mark wanted to get young people involved in gardening and become aware of the food they eat, so he approached the local elementary school, where his 2 daughters attended, to start a school garden in Stone Mill Elementary School.

Mark volunteers his time each week to meet with students. As of early 2017, over 1000 students have signed up to participate in this free program. Mark follows strict organic growing methods and adheres to GAP guidelines (Good Agricultural Practices) for food safety and cleanliness. Growing microgreens is such a perfect fit for Mark. He runs the farm operation.

Debbie Ross

Co-Founder

Director Of Sales & Marketing

Debbie is an enthusiastic supporter of anything that promotes good health and nutrition, and early on, Debbie jumped in with both feet for Metro Microgreens. Debbie’s background is in sales & marketing so she handles the business side of Metro Microgreens.

She makes sure the company exceeds all the guidelines for food safety and all of the administrative and regulatory paperwork. Debbie also meets with restaurants, caterers, and farmer’s markets to promote our products, discuss specific client needs, and how we can continuously improve our product and service.

Debbie makes some deliveries and orders all of the company supplies.

Shannon Force

Chief Growing Officer

Shannon was born and raised in Wisconsin and is the mother of 2 boys. Shannon has traveled extensively over the years but still talks of retiring back in Wisconsin. Maybe it’s her love of cheese or the Green Bay Packers.

Shannon does a bit of everything for Metro Microgreens including germinating, and preparing everything for our markets and works at some of our farmer's markets on the weekends. She is a wealth of knowledge that we depend on every day. She also is an amazing baker.
